Reducing the amount of sugar we eat is an important step in becoming healthy and fit. It is well known that our western diets are saturated in sugar and we are slowly becoming fatter and more ill every year. Here are our tips for cutting out sugar in a safe way.
Begin slowly. Do not try to go 100% sugar free from day one! It is hell. The best way to begin is to cut out the obvious sugar fiends, like sweets, chocolate and fizzy drinks. This way you’ll gradually lose a large chunk of sugar each day. Next, go through your cupboards and get rid of anything which has more than 5g sugar per 100g product. Main offenders will be things like premade sauces, ketchup and bbq sauce, jams and spreads, and often cereals. Check all the labels and only buy things which are 5% sugar or less.
Fill up on fats and proteins. Every meal should have a portion of protein and a portion of good fat. This could be olive oil, avocado, oily fish etc. You will be more full on less food once you reduce the sugar you eat!
